The New Year has seen the addition of Zumba and Boot Camp to the class timetable at The Nucleus health and fitness centre.

Zumba, a Latin dance based, high calorie burning class is ideal for all over body toning and an exhilarating way of keeping fit. Having proven extremely popular already, Ellie Pond, the Nucleus Gym Manager has included three classes per week in the new timetable.

For those less inclined to dance their way to fitness, Boot Camp is an excellent alternative. The six-week programme consists of twice weekly sessions which take place outside in the Park grounds. Members are put through their paces, by both Ellie and her colleague Matt Snelling, using a combination of cardio and body weight exercises to get maximum benefit from the 40 minute sessions.

The Nucleus health and fitness centre is an extremely popular part of life at Chesterford Research Park with a thriving membership made up of both Park tenants and members of the local community. January has seen a sixth fold increase in the number of new joiners compared to previous months, taking total membership to 369.

Katherine Maguire, Park Manager commented of the new timetable: “Both Ellie and Matt are extremely enthusiastic and their motivation certainly seems to inspire our members to make the most of their time in the gym. The new classes are certainly proving very popular and it’s great to see some new faces taking advantage of the facilities.”

Situated at the heart of Chesterford Research Park, The Nucleus health and fitness centre provides members with realistic opportunities to enhance and support a healthy lifestyle and the Nucleus fitness team are passionate about enabling people to live happy, healthy and productive lives. Open to both tenants and non-tenants alike the gym not only provides a varied programme of classes but is also equipped with the latest cardiovascular and resistance machines, an extensive free weights area and dedicated stretch area.

TRX Suspension training at The Nucleus Fitness Centre

The TRX suspension trainer is a great piece of kit, it’s very versatile and everyone can benefit from Suspension Training. Because the user can effortlessly control the resistance and level of difficulty by simply shifting the position of their body, the TRX Suspension Trainer™ Professional is perfect for gentle rehabilitation, hardcore athletic training, and everything in between. Suspension Training also allows for complete ranges of motion while training which allows for a more functional workout routine. So absolutely everyone can use it!

Traditional weight training often only works one muscle at a time which is contradictory to the normal coordinated muscle effort used to complete most activities. Focusing on only one muscle at a time is more likely to lead to overuse injuries and muscular imbalances, as well as potentially limit strength and movement gains. Suspension Training allows for the use of multiple planes of motion and works multiple muscles and joints simultaneously. You can have an all over, full body workout with this one piece of equipment. It’s brilliant and everyone should give a go!

ViPR's at The Nucleus Fitness Centre

The ViPR – which is pronounced ‘viper’ and stands for Vitality, Performance and Reconditioning – is in fact rather like a Swiss Army knife of exercise gadgets. It can be carried, dragged, thrown, flipped, stepped on and rolled – and is easily stored.

It can be lifted in the air to tone arms, swung to work out the sides and is said to burn calories and build muscle.

ViPR was invented by Michol Dalcourt, an expert in human movement, who has trained Olympic gold medal athletes. The ViPR to, focuses on using lots of muscles during each exercise rather than isolating specific muscles. To prevent injury and get an all over body workout!
